Interim improvements underway at the Ortega, Antonio intersection

Crews last week began clearing vegetation to make way for improvements at the Ortega Highway and Antonio Parkway/ La Pata Avenue intersection.

The county’s $2 million construction project just east of San Juan Capistrano is expected to improve traffic flow at the intersection. According to the county, the work should be finished by June, ahead of the September opening of San Juan Hills High School.

The work is the first phase of street-widening projects that will front Rancho Mission Viejo's Ortega Gateway Project on the four corners of the intersection. Ortega Gateway is the first phase of Rancho Mission Viejo’s 14,000-home development project with grading expected to start this summer, according to officials. For more information, call the project information line at (888) 235-0888.
